What is Technology Management?
Technology management involves identifying, evaluating, planning, and implementing new technologies in companies to secure competitive advantages. This may be achieved through more efficient production processes or through innovative, customer-oriented products. The focus is on measurable efficiency gains and economic success.
鈥
As an interdisciplinary field, it combines business administration with engineering. Depending on the role, the emphasis may lean more towards strategic, economic, or technical aspects 鈥 though both are always central. Moreover, teamwork is essential: technology managers work closely with R&D, procurement, production, and corporate management to integrate innovations strategically into business processes.
What can I expect from a Technology Management programme?
The Technology Management programme blends business administration with engineering and prepares you to strategically manage digital innovations and technological developments. You will learn to identify new technologies, assess their benefits, and optimise business models or processes.
鈥
In addition, you develop go-to-market strategies, plan technology life cycles, and undertake risk management in innovation projects. A particular focus is placed on Industry 4.0 鈥 the optimisation of value chains through new technologies 鈥 ensuring you are well-prepared for leadership roles at the intersection of business and technology.
Is a Technology Management programme right for me?
A Technology Management programme is ideal if you are curious, structured, and disciplined, and enjoy tackling complex subjects. Acting as a bridge between management and technology, you should be both analytical and an effective communicator.
鈥
Enthusiasm and persuasiveness will help you drive innovations forward. With us, you can tailor your studies: choose between a business-oriented programme with a focus on digital and technology management or an industrial engineering course with practical technical content.
鈥
You also have the choice of studying in German or English, full-time or as a dual programme, and can select a campus with varying degrees of practical orientation.
What does the Technology Management programme cover? What will I learn?
In the Technology Management programme, you can either study a wide range of topics or specialise in core areas. Every course includes valuable soft skills training 鈥 such as self-management, effective communication, negotiation techniques, and leadership behaviour 鈥 that will benefit you throughout your career.
鈥

What do you learn in a Technology Management 叠补肠丑别濒辞谤鈥檚 programme?

In business-oriented courses, you cover classical subjects such as strategy, cost accounting, personnel management, marketing, commercial law, and supply chain management 鈥 often supplemented by electives in digital business or startups.

More technically focused courses, such as business informatics and industrial engineering, still include core business elements but place greater emphasis on IT, corporate management, or practical engineering topics such as measurement and control technology, energy technology, or chemistry.
What do you learn in a Technology Management Master鈥檚 programme?
In the Master鈥檚 programme, you either deepen your existing knowledge or specialise further. The programme combines business administration and technology with a focus on forecasting, evaluation, roadmapping, and investment appraisal 鈥 with a significant portion dedicated to the Master鈥檚 thesis.
鈥
Alternatively, in a business administration Master鈥檚, you can choose electives such as digital strategies, data & analytics, or coding, orienting your thesis on technology management.
鈥
Another pathway is the Project Management Master鈥檚, which is designed for the practical management of digital and large-scale projects and is especially suited for professionals.
What are the entry requirements for a Technology Management programme?
The entry requirements depend on the qualification you are aiming for.

鈥
For the Master鈥檚 programme, a first academic degree (黑料社, Diploma, or Magister) from a recognised institution with a minimum grade of 鈥済ood鈥 is required.
